How to choose a college after Class 12 (without the panic)

Results day, counselling rounds, a hundred ads — here's a calm, five-step way to choose.

1. Start with the course, not the college

Pick the field you want to study for 3–5 years. A great course at a good college usually beats a weak course at a famous name.

2. Map your exams to realistic options

Use last year's cut-offs as a guide: JEE ranks for NITs/IIITs, NEET scores for MBBS seats, CUET percentiles for central universities, IELTS for abroad. Keep reach, match and safe colleges.

3. Calculate the full cost

Add tuition, hostel, food, travel and yearly increases for the entire degree. Our fee planner does this in a minute.

4. Check what's verifiable

Look for AICTE/UGC/NMC approval in India, KHDA or CAA in the UAE, and OfS registration in the UK. Ask for audited placement reports, not just "highest package".

5. Shortlist 5–8, compare 3, visit 1–2

Use Compare side by side, then talk to current students. If you're stuck, book a free counsellor call.
